Understand both opening modes.
In the tilted position, the top of the sash moves inwards. In the turn position, the sash opens inwards on side hinges. The handle controls the operation, with the exact sequence and available restrictions depending on the system.
Room for the sash
Allow space inside for the full opening movement. A deep windowsill, a kitchen tap, furniture or a fitted blind can get in the way, so consider these before choosing the layout.
Ventilation choices
The tilt setting provides a different opening from the full turn position. Discuss how you use the room and the ventilation needed, alongside any opening restrictors suitable for your circumstances.
Access for cleaning
An inward opening may make the outside surface easier to reach from indoors. The size, position and configuration still matter; check what is practical for each window rather than assuming every pane will be accessible.

Do tilt-and-turn windows open outwards?
The usual tilt-and-turn arrangement opens inwards in both modes. If you need an outward-opening window, compare it with our casement windows.
Is the tilt position a security setting?
Do not assume an open or tilted window offers the security of a locked, closed window. Follow the product instructions and ask about hardware and restriction options before ordering.
Can they work with blinds?
They can be considered alongside blinds, but the blind position, handle clearance and inward sash movement need to work together. Discuss your intended blind arrangement when planning the window.
